Risk of Rain (PC)

I was playing this a little bit yesterday and the day before when I bought it on humble bundle.

It's not a bad game, but its kind of needlessly hard and there doesn't seem to be any easy way to tell you are progressing in the roguelike progression like unlocking classes or whatever else.

my PC is probably as old as Terry's, it cant handle gamez

its a game maker game. you should be able to run it on a windows xp pc probably.

nice... my desktop that i built earlier this year is an i7 4770k, 250gb ssd, one 2tb drive, 32gb of ram.

i definitely need a laptop. i need an updated mac, so i might get a macbook pro sometime.

i was thinking of a new iMac, but my 2006 iMac is still working and i do most of my main work on my PC nowadays.

i need a laptop to go around and use to do video editing elsewhere and have access to mac-only stuff....

it'd be another 2 grand for that, and i just spend as much on my PC

Psh.

If you do that, you can't do all of the awesome stuff that I've done with my laptop.
And will end up with something worse for twice the price.

"Mac-only stuff?"
The programs, or comparable ones, don't exist for Windows?
And if it's just a matter of being compatible with your home computer, just dual-boot.
Or even better - use the money that you save by not buying a Mac to buy a new home computer as well... and still save money!

there are several video and audio tools that are only on the mac or work better on mac than PC.

i have to be able to use Final Cut Pro, for instance. MPEG Streamclip is a very useful program when i need to use it

Yeah, to be fair, Audio/Video editing is the time I do understand it, since that does seem to be a specialized area there.
For most people though, they just really don't need it. Especially at the prices they're paying for it.

It makes me laugh when I see people talking up the durability angle, while not only stressing the importance of "AppleCare," but paying as much as 2 or 3 equivalent computers.
And then the go-to seems to be "But that touchpad!"
Unless the touchpad cures cancer, it's not worth an extra $1000+

Sorry, I know I kind of tangented this thread from the original Risk of Rain topic.
It's just nice being able to get some thoughts out without the risk of rain from all the Apple fans

on the plus side, i got to the second stage in the game. it just gets harder and harder.

i really just dont get the point of the game other than to play it in different ways. which is fine, but there's no goal, and no purpose.

i dont know, it feels like something to play once or twice a month or something.
