I've been meaning to write a review of Dragon City, but you know, with my high-powered jet-setting lifestyle, I simply can't make the time. But seriously, I'll write a review of it sometime and you can have the credit!

I used to get requests for game reviews occasionally.
Got an FAQ request from IGN years back too.

Not really. I mean, I have all of my stuff up on terrisus.com, but other than that, I pretty much just submitted stuff regularly to GameFAQs and IGN.
Won a few Review of the Month contests over on GameFAQs over the years, so got a few gift cards for them.

I used to do a bunch of things when I was a Knight of Hyrule (moderator) over on Nintendo's old NSider message boards.
But, those closed down back in 2007, and we were all just kind of left by the wayside.

Ah ok.

i used to do amateur game journalism for a small site -- i got into E3 a couple times and would get multiple review copies.

occasionally i still get an email from someone asking if i can review their free to play game or whatever for squackle.

Yeah, nothing like that for me, unfortunately.

I'm sure I could've parlayed it into something more worthwhile, but never really had the drive/motivation/kept waiting for something ideal to just fall into my lap :\

it was something i did mostly in high school and college. it really helped my writing skills since we had a group and we would proofread each other's writing and I used that opportunity to improve.

i also established some writing skills from the role playing chats I used to be a part of since we would occasionally do longer stories

Yeah, as much as people make fun of their boards, the GameFAQs Review Contributors board really helped my writing a bunch back around 2001-2003.

I mean, MUDs back in the 1990s did as well, but still, it was kind of the next step of progression.

got another couple games to review, one I gave to my "staff writer" and one I'm doing personally.

i only have contact with one company but its not like i have time/staff to dole out this kind of work a lot anyway.
