Who watches the watches?

Postby davepoobond » Thu Jan 08, 2015 1:30 am

Do we know that they are really working all of the time and not just when we are looking?

How do we know that time is actually going forward and its not just our clocks skipping time whenever we look at them?

sometimes I turn on my phones screen and it says the time it was the last time I looked, then quickly jumps ahead to the supposed "current" time

we should have a committee that constantly watches the watches.

and there should be people to watch the watch watchers to make sure they aren't corrupted by their time magic

is this a serious inquiry or just meant to be funny? if it's the former, I wouldn't mind exploring it further

if a tree falls in the middle of the woods and nothing is around to hear it, does it make a sound? since the dictionary describes sound as:

the sensation produced by stimulation of the organs of hearing by vibrations transmitted through the air or other medium.

then the answer is no!

I know it's not a question to be taken literally, but hey, them's the breaks!

But thinking on that, unless the forest were a burned out husk with no viable way to have any form of life living in it, wouldn't something be around to hear it, even a caterpillar?
