casual racism in emoticons

Postby Freaky Fred » Wed Nov 12, 2014 5:27 pm

:French: "french" so all french people are hairy and wear berets? SMH

:pimp: no surprise that the "pimp" emoticon has darker skin than the rest SMHx2

:geek: so the "geek" emoticon looks like maxcriden by sheer coincidence right? White on white racism SMHx1000000

I know it seems like I'm :whining: , but this casual racism has me :disgusted:

I'm  but honestly not :surprised2:

what's offending you tonight guys?

they aren't added as smilies, only as avatars.

if there are ones you like i will add them as an emoticon. they take some manual labor to get them added.

those were smilies available on the old board during the early 2000s. so they were made around or before then.

Casual racism is better than malicious racism, isn't it?

being maliciously racist is bad, but at least everyone knows where you stand, and most people know it's a problem

because casual racism is more subtle, it makes it seem like it's acceptable to have these racist ideas/opinions. it's still racism, but it's masquerading as something harmless.

I wonder if "casual racism" is the office dress code for Klan members on Fridays, while every other day they're required to wear formal/business racism attire

unfortunately i dont think we will ever move past casual racism since as long as people have eyes and other senses we will always discriminate against other people.
